What I'm Doing Now
Below is a list of the things I'm focusing on now. The list combines both overarching life priorities along with my specific efforts and goals for this moment in my life.
I'm focusing all of my effort on these things:
- Being the best father, husband, and overall human being that I can be. Better structuring and balancing time with family and time writing or working on whatever else. Also, exploring ways to bring mindfulness into my children's lives in an effortless and enjoyable way.
- Dedicating myself to my practice of meditation and mindful living. Making my best effort each day to live with mindfulness, to see deeply into my habitual patterns and conditioned action, and to treat everyone I meet with kindness and compassion. Consistently deepening my practice through reaffirming or intensifying my effort, reading or studying, or trying something new.
- Reading 8 new books each month, split between my personal practice (topics such as Zen, Buddhism in general, spirituality in general, scientific research, or religion in some form) and both the practice and business of writing.
- Serving my readers and listeners, primarily by writing a collection of new books with clear, straightforward, and well-supported ideas along with actionable steps for implementation.
- Creating a sustainable, healthy, and honest income from my work as a writer. That means a business based on honesty, transparency, a specific moral code and which creates valuable things which people can use to live a happier, more peaceful, and more mindful life. Expanding my portfolio to include more books, courses, and other things which offer value.
- *Current Major Professional Goal: Write 8 new books on various topics by Dec 27th, 2017 (based on community feedback and my own level of enthusiasm) as well as create 2 new courses based on the most requested and useful of those 8 books.
These things are my priorities. While I accept whatever may come, I consciously say no to adding unnecessary things to my life and refuse to spend any significant amount of time on anything else at the moment. This is subject to change in the future, at which point this page will be updated.
